Did you know every song you stream through YouTube or Spotify is copyrighted? So is every book you purchase from Amazon's bookstore. Unfortunately, the creators miss out on alot of pay because people avoid subscribing on these platforms preferring to instead download them for free. Zeepin wants to give the power back to creators by removing the expensive middleman companies. This way it hopes people will be more willing to interact with the creators work in a more legal manner

So technically you can do with these files anything you please as long as it's on a personal level, you can copy the files to other locations, you can read or listen to the digital files from multiple devices, you can even save the files on the cloud - that's all within your right, what's not allowed is distributing these files. Copyright protection bars you from copying the work or distributing it to another party, and although different counties handle copyright infringement differently, it is illegal.

Imagine this a creator has worked on say a novel for years, editing it, tweaking it, spending money on it and when they finally publish it someone else takes it, mass prints it and starts distributing it to every tom, dick and harry. Not good for the creator as you can imagine. All those sales opportunities gone, all those years of hard work for nothing.
It's true though piracy is a big deal, in fact according to a recent report it costs the music industry $12.5 billion USD in economic losses every year, and $50 billion USD in losses to the streaming industry. That's more than the economies of some entire nations.

But by understanding why people pirate in the first place and how stop it from happening, Zeepin has come up with an entire platform that is focused on removing trust barriers between different parties, protecting all copyrights, fostering a reliable distribution channel and most importantly building a thriving environment for creators everywhere.

Introducing Zeepin and all its awesomeness.

Zeepin will use the power of distributed technology (blockchain) to protect all the work creators create. It does this through several ways but in its raw form, it basically removes the need for pricey intermediaries by allowing every creator to place their work on a decentralized platform and allowing for direct transactions and communication between them and the users. All this happens securely and at fast times.

This platform is also great because it gives creators the capability of always checking in on the status of their files or assets. Everyone from the biggest most successful celebrity creators to the grassroot artist still trying to find his way through, is free to participate on the platform and most importantly has an equal opportunity to access all of Zeepins dApps that will not only help protect their work but also give them an edge.

Galacloud: A newer way to store data.

One of this dApps is the Galacloud, which just as its name suggests is a distributed encryption storage software. Its infrastructure uses nodes such as GalaHub and the GalaBox. The GalaBox nodes use a data sharding technology to store data in a decentralized manner. The GalaBox even handles upload and download requests from the network.

All these nodes are kept in clusters inside something called a GalaBox. Other than storage the GalaBox can also back up different files, according to instructions from the Galahub, the GalaBox will be the one to decide whether to store some of the files locally or pass them on to another GalaBox. GalaBox stores its files as public or private, each with its own key - the public key will encrypt and decrypt public files and so will the private key.

Even though most of the storage functionalities are handled by the GalaBoxes, all the sharding processes and file organization is taken care of by the user operated GalaHubs. The GalaHub is therefore the network server that links various areas of the storage network, in fact anyone with high speed internet can register to become a Galahub once they have locked up at least 400,000 ZPT over a duration of 18 months. Only 49 Galahub nodes will be recruited.
Zeepin is also incentivizing its users to engage with the client side in exchange for some rewards. The GalaCloud’s DESNet decides how rewards are distributed to the users, with users being given the opportunity to track their progress in real-time using a dedicated mobile app.

Conclusion

Trust and protection of copyrights spurs creativity within creators, because they know they have full control and exclusive rights over what happens with all their pieces they are motivated to always do better and improve upon their work. All this can't happen without trust in the system.

Unfortunately, the current system is majorly flawed, one in terms of security; See most cloud storage providers are centralized meaning all the data is stored at a central location, and open to hacks and cyber-attacks. Creators are always in constant fear of losing their data. The second part is with regards to industry monopolization, the big companies can sometimes unfairly profiteer the creator’s data, giving it away to other firms in exchange cash.

The only way creators can truly benefit themselves is by taking back control of their own data. Which is what Zeepin promises, by distributing all the data, Zeepin wants to create an environment free of centralized nodes, where third parties aren't needed and monopolies aren't created to ensure the creator is always at the driving seat of his or her own data and because all the data is sharded, even if some information did fall in the wrong hands they would need to go through a long process of decryption to make any sense of it, the data will therefore always be safe because only the owner can access it using their private key.
Zeepin will also use smart contract technology to ensure the platform always remains autonomous and decentralized.

How can you start participating with Zeepin?

Thanks to ZeeFund Crowd-Funding, Zeepin is currently holding a crowdfunding campaign for its GalaBox Mining Machine, which was basically designed to encrypt and store digital files & assets in a decentralized manner.

It looks great with a health indicator alert built in to inform you of any malfunctions! It also works great too, its detachable design makes it easy for users to insert or remove hard disks! and with only 60,000 GalaBox units being issued in its debut year, the company really hopes you get in on the action.

And it's simple really, all you need to do is lock-up a minimum of 5000 ZPT for 18 months, if you do the company will send you your very own limited edition GalaBox G1, free of charge. In addition to that GalaBox owners will be receiving up to 10 million Gala tokens each week according to their participation on the network

The campaign will be split into three phases:

The Early Bird period which required users to lock up only 4999 ZPT for 18 months to get a free GalaBox G1. (This one ended almost as soon as it began - we're currently on phase 1).

Phase 1

The phase one period started on the 12th of August and will be running until the 15th of August, during this period users need to lock up at least 5,250 ZPT for a duration of 18 months to get a free GalaBox G1. Phase 2 will begin on the 16th of August running until the 20th of August.

Phase 2

will require that you lock up 5,500 ZPT over 18 months for a GalaBox. Lastly, the

Phase 3

This will run all the way from 21st August 2018 to 25th August 2018. This last phase will require that you lock up 5,750 ZPT for 18 months to get your GalaBox G1.
