Gaddafi was neither left-wing nor right-wing. Gaddafi developed his own ideology called 'Third International Theory'. In essence, it was a special fusion of Islamic leftism, socialism, independence, and pan-African unity.

Gaddafi was a critic of democracy. He believed that typical Western-style democracy was essentially an endless dictatorship where politicians could hold on to power for decades through flawed party politics and massive campaign spending. He also criticized 'Parliament' as a failed system where parties become like warring tribes and pose a threat to stability and unity.

He strongly criticized wage labor, capitalist markets, and private enterprise. Capitalism creates slavery. Collective control should be granted to the people as a whole.

But Gaddafi admits that his ideology is not perfect.

Gaddafi was well versed in the Quran, Islam and Sharia law. Gaddafi used to challenge Sheikhs and clerics. He used to cross-examine them with questions about Sharia, Hadith and Quranic Surahs.

Gaddafi was a revolutionary. His real stroke was to try to create a gold-based currency for use by all African states. A move that would have crippled the dollar.

He was definitely a flawed man, but I think people should take some real time to learn about his interesting political ideology.
