Watch Elon Musk Troll a TED Talk

in #futurology7 years ago (edited)

It's no secret that Elon Musk is the epitomy of Der Wille Zur Mach in the best ways possible. This is what good old fashioned capitalism looks like: a leader who actually knows his sh*t well and smart enough in acquiring the best minds out there to dish out great, valuable products. Renewable energy. Eco-green transportation. Space exploration! Some ideas are just plain everlasting and The Musk is quite the right person at the helm at the right time. Even TED's host gets all starry-eyed from the man crush as you can see throughout the video. Someone hand him a pillow, please. For one, I'm saving a couple of Bitcoins and a fistful of STEEM just so I could hop onto a space shuttle for Mars ten or twenty years down the road.

The reason why I'm saying he's trolling is while most his projects have been working so far, it remains that some of the timelines he gave out seems to be deliberately over-exaggerated. Especially when it comes to both the solar and space stuff. But who am I to know? Smart capital can move things pretty quickly after all.

Elon Musk is in a shitload of debt. Everything he made so far is from government grant shilling. Needless to say if he doesn't start having a turnover soon, it will all go down the drain. He expanded parabolically and there is no floor for sustainability.

Also. He is not doing anything revolutionary. He just used clever marketing much like Apple did. I am not sure though that his utopian meme is going to follow through.

No doubt there'll piles of debt and he's getting plenty of state support - just seem like one of the better places resources can go to imo. But I think he has severely under-estimated the time horizons for some of the stuff he's dabbling in. Let's see how it goes :)

He is the epitome of corporatism, not capitalism. As far as I have understood from your posts in the past, everything you despise about the current system.

No matter what he does, no matter how revolutionary it is, is pointless. NASA did the exact same moves back in the day when they went head to head with Russia. Everyone was praising NASA for taking us to the moon when their actions could actually start a third world war while the debt was gigantic.

We often forget what is going on behind the scenes because we are caught up with the superficial and what the media are selling us. Elon Musk is skin deep. Heck the other day I was watching a youtube video in regards to how to replicate his battery wall for a fraction of the price. There is no special technology behind it.

Essentially you are shilling a corporatist car salesman :)

Yeah more writing this in jest, and just saying he's been doing good with whatever he's doing. I'm more interested in the effect that it has on the relevant industries. I do tend to write people in good light, if not a little :) lol

Many other companies have been doing what he is doing. It is no secret. He just got attention because he expresses liberal ideas, things that excite the commoners that seek a utopic world.

Many other companies have been doing what he is doing.

You don't realize that they're doing what he is doing because he showed that doing what he is doing is possible to do.

Electric cars for mass adoption with autonomy: After he started handling the company.
Reusable rockets: After his proposal and demonstration - by Team SpaceX.
Super high speed transportation: After he proposed the paper.

There is nothing secret - couldn't agree more. Most of the tech he works upon, is open sourced and that's exactly what is great.

He expresses liberal ideas, things that excite the commoners that seek a utopic world.

Visionary much?

You are buying into the meme. Many people have thought of doing all these things before. Problem is always the funding. He is using tax dollars to fund memes that 90% are going into military programs, much like it has been going on with NASA.

I can bring my niece with yet another 3 absurd ideas, give her 100 billion dollars and she could accomplish as much by rubbing her shit on the CEO table. You don't seem to understand how the world operates...

Right.

I have a lot of respect for Elon Musk, primarily for his never say die attitude that has continously raised him up from the merky depths every time one of his projects ran out of money. I haven't been following his progress quite as much lately, but I am happy to see that Tesla has released their less expensive model 3 of which I look forward to test driving!
Great post. Regards. CP

I have to admit that I dont really follow the ins and outs of the state of his businesses, but I think at least people find the projects exciting and interesting enough :)

Thanks for the post, Following. This guy is not the 'full picture'! Not smart capitol, just lots of it.

Definitely not the full picture, but he's moving stuff well ahead and the open-source community will surely benefit from his works :)

I watch this guy, But, I do not see any real innovation. I am a horrible skeptic I know. We are still using Tech from the 1800's, Come on humans. We are better than this! Thanks Kev.

WORSE!
some places still use WOOD!
Do you know how long humans have been using wood?
despicable!
I won't even address the use of STONE!

Hahah you're the best

ummm...
maybe not the best.
Perhaps not the WORST though.

Time to unleash the hidden Technology! Thanks for the post Bro.

Sorry but please don't spam. I've seen a few in here.

It's all city centric thinking. Yes you need to dream in order to push things on, but I am get so bored with self drive cars and things like this. Why not just get rid of cars and have multi vehicles with separate spaces, like old trains used to have .. oh hang on !

I'm all for a private auto that flies around and resembles a box. Well.. i guess that'll only happen once we get past fan-blade propellers for flight..

Good post, thanks
