The Future Is Now: Space Fence Program Takes the War On Consciousness To The Heavens

in #futurism7 years ago (edited)

Earth Custodians' main concerns here are "who" is financing this army contractor, and where is coming our space junk from - do you think?

Estimates are always wrong at that scale of 'business'. In 2014, Lockheed Martin was already 50+% over budget. It also is expect the project to be completed in 2018 and we shouldn't be surprised that the total cost might be  around $2+Bn once done. Paid by and for taxpayers.

Our civilization is utterly wasteful. How does it come that we have so much junk flying over our heads in the first place? If the picture above (found on wikipedia) the situation is beyond appalling.

How can the industrial polluters not think of sending into space devices that are upgradable? Of course sending shuttles with teams of technicians into space to do this would surely make their profit sink!  Or why can't big tech companies collaborate on reducing junk. Sure, a fierce competition prevents this. The long-term never really matters when earnings must satisfy shareholders.

In the name of profit, just anything goes. The path of the least resistance will always come at the expense of the whole. Every time we see huge profits on the stock market, we should quit pouring money into these stocks and investigate the backyard-accounting of these companies for any kind of aberrations occurring at the expense of Nature and Humanity.

But that is pure digression. How about ending monetarism that turns people into sociopaths, especially those at the top?  The BBC short reveals that it would cost $15m for each piece of space junk! Do the math!

Lockheed Martin Lands $914M Space Fence Contract:  The Air Force has spent some $1.6 billion to date on the the Space Fence  program, according to a March 2014 Government Accountability Office  report.

Will space junk end our modern way of life ? - The Kessler Syndrome

Unfortunately, another threat is looming. Paying so much to remove space junk will also finance global surveillance and further strengthen our Dystopian Future

'As above, so below. It seems we have littered the space surrounding our  planet with teeming, man-made debris which Lockheed Martin now calls it  an “imminent threat” that must be protected with their latest  technology – a radar system that will track ‘junk’ traveling at about 9  times the speed of a bullet, and residing in a search area that’s  220,000 times the volume of Earth’s oceans.  Sounds harmless enough, right? Perhaps even helpful? Or perhaps  there are other concerns beyond just the military’s lost satellites.' Hidden Intent

Truthful information, not marketing propaganda, is as always  difficult to come by when examining military industrial projects,  however to some, the space fence  is more than a complex system to keep us safe in space, and technology  of this nature and power represents an extreme escalation in the war on  the individual and the war on consciousness.  Read more: Space Fence Program Takes the War on Consciousness to the Heavens

War on consciousness? lol

There is a lot of value in our net of satellites. Rapid communication is key to our fast evolving technology.
