Stirling vs Murdoch

Friday night futsal action kicks off from 7:50pm when SFL heavyweights Stirling Braza take on the Murdoch Warriors. The Warriors faded badly last weekend in a 5-1 loss to Fremantle, while Stirling dismantled the newly promoted Spearwood Lions 5-2. While Stirling have lost some key signings in the off season, they continue to the be a powerhouse with the likes of Victor Brauner and Adriano Martino carrying the load. For Murdoch, they will miss the likes of Alex Basto and Meysam, and will find it tough to get anything out of this game tonight, although not impossible.

Cumbre vs Fremantle

In a replay of last seasons Grand Final, back to back SFL Champions Fremantle Futsal Club look to continue their winning start to the season against a Cumbre side that looked reasonably good in their first win of the season over the Canning Ultra Tigers. Key man Nestor Fonseca is likely to miss the match due to illness, and if he does play don't expect him to be featuring much, while new South Korean signing Joon looks to be continuing his comeback from injury in some style, scoring on debut last week. Fremantle, with Salman Alhammadi on board, look to be too quick and too classy for a Cumbre side at sixes and sevens at the moment. Fireworks expected later on in the season, but not now. Fremantle will win this one.

Cockburn vs Spearwood

Perhaps match of the round here. The fans want to know just how competitive Spearwood can be this season, and while they started well against Stirling last week, they could not sustain 40 minutes of pressure and went down 5-2 in the end. Cockburn opened their account with a 6-2 "drubbing" of South Perth on Wednesday and look even stronger this season, with the likes of Jesse Lazzaro finding his feet early with a hattrick to settle the team. Alek Kukic may make his return and Cockburn look to have this one in the bag, or have we spoken too soon.

Canning vs South Perth

Another important game to finish off the round of SFL action as both teams went down in the first round. Canning lost 4-2 to La Cumbre while South Perth went down 6-2 to Cockburn EWA. Both sides need to pick up the three points here to avoid an early relegation battle, the nightmare of any newly promoted club. Canning were expected to perform better last week but didn't show a lot, while South Perth, who many believe should not even have a seat at the big boys table, are rumoured to have signed former Longobarda top scorer Remo Capitani. South Perth will need all the help they can get, but if Canning are asleep at the wheel like last week, this is a game they can win.
