Let us find out what foods are harmless for people but dangerous for pets

Some foods that are regarded as good for people can be very dangerous for pets. The list below highlights some of the most popular foods that can be dangerous to animals. This is not an exhaustive list, also any decision to provide your pet with food not particularly intended for animals should be discussed with your veterinarian or pet nutritionist.

These are the following foods that may be dangerous to your pet:
Alcoholic beverages
Apple seeds
Apricot pits
Avocados
Cherry pits
Candy (especially chocolate—which is toxic to dogs, cats, and ferrets, including any candy containing the toxic sweetener Xylitol)
Coffee (which includes grounds, beans, and chocolate-covered espresso beans)
Garlic
Grapes
Gum (can induce blockages and sugar-free gums may include the toxic sweetener Xylitol)
Hops (used in the home beer brewing)
Macadamia nuts
Moldy foods
Mushroom plants
Mustard seeds
Onions and onion powder
Peach pits
Potato leaves and stems (the green parts)
Raisins
Rhubarb leaves
Salt
Tea (because it can contain caffeine)
Tomato leaves and stems (the green parts)
Walnuts
Xylitol (which is an artificial sweetener that is toxic to pets)
Yeast dough

Coconut and Coconut Oil

If ingested in small amounts, coconut and coconut-based products are not expected to cause serious harm to your pet. The flesh and milk of fresh coconuts do include oils that may cause loose stools, stomach upset, or diarrhea. Because of this, I urge you to use caution when giving your pets these foods. Coconut water has a large amount of potassium and should not be given to your pet.

Wow,an eye opener, thanks for sharing

Yes it's really an eye opener @hyacinthfavour we tend to overlook something which is important, so we should be careful.

Thank you for sharing this. Poor knowledge of animal feed made me lost my rabbit few months ago. This is indeed an eye opener.

Wow sorry about your rabbit @reminiscence01, thats why we should be extra careful about what we feed our pets.

I blamed myself for her death. It was my first time owning a rabbit and i didnt have any experience on keeping one.

You don't really need to blame yourself, we all do mistakes @reminiscence01, what we don't know we don't know.

That's right. Thank you for sharing this piece of information. It will really help me when i get another pet.

Am happy the post can help people, but really check the food rabbit needs to grow and live healthy.

I will do that. Thank you.

You are welcome
