Trying New Jokes While Hosting Open Mic
Tonight I tried out my new Childish Gambino, BBQ in the park joke... and guess what? It worked... well, it worked enough. lol
Each Thursday night I host an open mic at a big bar in town. It is tough starting the show, but a great time to try new material. If it gets a laugh, then it is worthy of spending some time perfecting it. It is very important to constantly be writing comedy if you are a working or new comedian. I always feel like my best joke hasn't been written.
Tonight I tried using the DJ more. He's a buddy of mine and we are trying to find more ways to incorporate music into the show. So my car joke tonight was one to try and bring him into the show more.
After trying it on stage, I need shorter clips of songs and need to find a better first song. Also, I need to remember to keep my arm out like I'm driving. I should probably come up with specific dance move to do each time. We'll see, but I want to work on it. It has potential. The premise I could constantly update and add new scenarios.
