When Norwegians Make Fun Of The Danish Language

in #funny7 years ago (edited)

Hey, steemians! Today I thought it'd be quite funny if I'd share with you four videos from Youtube on how Norwegians like to make fun of the Danish language. As some of you may know, I'm an international student in Denmark for almost one and a half month so far, and some of the 'facts' that are going to be presented in the videos below are accurate (at least, to a certain extent).

Nonetheless, prior to getting to the actual fun, I would equally very much like to stress the fact that written Danish and written Norwegian (at least norsk bokmål) are basically nearly the same language. But, when it comes to pronouncing words in Danish, then it's totally different from spoken Norwegian. Add that to the fact that the Danish number system is rather peculiar (to say the least) and that some letters/characters are not even spelled in spoken format and you'll hopefully understand the point of the following videos.

From my personal sparse one month experience with learning Danish, I can only say that it's so close yet so far from Norwegian. While reading Danish might not be a problem for me to some extent, listening to a Danish speaker would probably be. That's primarily because it's so very hard to understand a long speech when in Danish a lot of letters are not spelled at all.

Anyway, last but not least, please take them as mere jokes and enjoy them in a humorous manner as they were not made for other purposes. Mange tak. :)

Here is a short video from a Norwegian TV series called 'Ut i vår hage' (literally translated 'Out in our garden') from NRK, the Norwegian state-owned broadcasting TV and radio channel.

And the next episode from the same Norwegian TV show:

And this is yet another part from an old Norwegian comic TV show called 'Flesknes' when the Danish number system is 'discussed' (note: please turn on subtitles for this one):

Last but not least, here's a far more 'historically-accurate' approach towards the linguistic relationship between Norwegian and Danish:

I truly hope you'll like these videos. Skal! :D

Fantastic videos. I am Norwegian. Anybody wants some Kamelåså?

Careful not to order 1,000 liters of milk. :D

There you just ordered 1000 liters of milk! Kindly send 1000 SBD to @janusface:)

But then again, who's to blame, who's to blame? :)

what is that "Kamelåså?" and how do you order 1000 liters of milk :D
It will spoil if you move it, probably not since now it's not really milk anymore :D

Great post thank u for sharing love it
