Steem Origins: @acidyo - Comedy Open Mic Round #14
Very close to 2 years ago to the minute, someone joined the platform who has helped me a lot. In fact, they helped me before I knew who they were and likely before they had any idea who I was. I count them as a friend now however, what do I really know about this person, this, "@Acidyo" ?
I am not very trusting of people so thought I would do a little digging and see what I can find. Here, walk with me:
This is how he(?) represents himself. As the pink Pokemon, Mew. People often choose their online personas based on either something they think represents them or, something they want to think represents them. I decided to do some digging.
MEW source
As demonstrated by its behavior in the first and eighth Pokémon movies, it shows signs of intelligence, curiosity, playfulness, and even selflessness. Mew is incredibly adaptable, able to travel freely in the air or underwater. As seen in Pokémon Snap, it can create a green/yellow/pink orb of energy around itself for protection.
I think we are getting somewhere with the 'signs of intelligence'. Aspirational dreaming? Selflessness... hmm. Interesting but we'll get to that later. Of course, he is not (probably) going to look exactly like Mew however, I suspect there are some similarities.
I asked some experts in the field of profiling serial killers to build as close of a representation as they could muster on the material I found and after months of fine-tuning and deliberation, they came up with this:
They have put it at a ±0.8 percent margin of error which makes it extremely likely. Funnily enough, the AI Supercomputer used for modelling, without previous inputs placed the medallion around the neck. If you look closely, it bears a remarkable similarity to the chesticle or chestahedron or whatever that EOS-shilling Brock Pierce was rambling about on stage. Close, but no Cigar AI, no cigar (although the 'mockup' clothing would get him into Brock's Burning Man wedding)...
You see, one thing we do know about @acidyo is this:
Steeeeeeeeeeeemmmmmmmmmmmiiiittt!!!
But, it isn't enough to have an accurate picture of what the man(?) looks like, we need to actually see how he acts and what we know is this. He is a curator that looks for undervalued content. He runs the @ocd curation project and has done for about a year now.
This though, we already know as it is one of the widest reaching curation projects out there but, where did he get his 'curator' beginnings, what pushed him into the waters of caring, is this a selfless act?
To answer these questions, I pushed deep into the past, to the birth of SteemMew two years ago to see what it could tell. An origin story?
We know the date he appeared but what might give insight is, what was his first mark upon the chain? A comment, not a post. And this one really does give some insight into who we are dealing with.
Yep. A f*cking smartass
Perhaps that is the 'playful' nature of the Mew. What do you think @pfunk? I can already guess at your answer mate, don't worry.
But, not too long after it gets even more intriguing, something that @v4vapid might want to organise a Deep Dive on perhaps. There, hidden at the root of the @acidyo profile is, the Genesis post, the one that started it all. Here it is:
All I can say is... Meh.
But, there is more!!
Just like there always is on TV shopping, there is much more to this story, more gold to find. And it is here that the Master manual curator can be seen, it is here you see the heart of the man behind the cute little Pokemon. Unlike his posts now, the payout on his first one was:
0, Zilch, Zip, Nada.
But that isn't the interesting bit, this is:
Yes, @acidyo, the man who has manually upvoted almost 60,000 posts in his two years, his first vote was a @berniesanders -esque FLAG! Not only that, he flagged himself. Obviously, even he knew it was a shitpost!
It was likely at this point he realised, something had to be done and he has been doing something ever since.
So there we have it, the @acidyo origin. As they say, the rest is history and immutable.
All I really know is that over the last year or so he has had my back in various ways and has occasionally even made me laugh. Over his time on Steem he has supported many, many people and it has come at a very high cost to his own potential growth and that is something that is rare here. I think that without him, there would be lot fewer active members either directly or indirectly.
You have done well and acted Mew-ishly and I wish you all the best for the next two years here... if it survives.
Shill harder
Taraz
[ a Steem original ]
He is secretly MyEtherWallet.
MEW.
He was one of my first followers, and probably the most generous and relatable of the higher rep accounts.
Further more, his work with OCD is sure to be retaining an enormous amount of accounts on this platform.
I can only dream of getting someone to recognise my upcoming Steemit anniversary in the same way!
It is pretty interesting to see how much the larger accounts engage and the difference between. Those who are community orientated are obviously so.
I remember my first acidyo upvote it felt amazing. Well yes it surely is fascinating to see what big accounts that are community driven and the ones who only want to be in their own little micro niche... Well it's easy to become pretentious that's for sure. Clearly you can see that some have totally given up on the comment section.
For me it's a bit sad to see when the big accounts only want to do something like gaming because I don't really see the core value in it when we have this powerful technology available to empower super many humans.
But some have a good balance for right % to upvote with. The best is if it's used properly to tweak how much something is truly worth. Always this ultra low upvote and people give up. It's low level communism. But when people know that it can be different in value that's when people get excited. Since that is what made capitalism thrive.
Happy early steemit birthday, just in case I forget in August. :D
Hahaha, man this was hilarious. Especially the chestahedron part, geez. If I ever wear that for real I'm going to start that self-flagging again. Thanks for this post :D what a fun read in the morning!
Happy whatever our equivalent of cake day is here on Steemit.
poolday?
Do we get to wear some sexy speedo's and nothing else on these days? If so then I approve of the name.
Miss you, and Happy Birthday!! I'm gonna start coming around again. Had some things come up, but I'm back! =)
The ghost returns! (I already knew from your post, but still)
Glad you enjoyed it mate.
Why did you flag yourself there though? Lol :D
Have a good day man!
Most welcome sir.
So great comment sir.
Really sir you so great man.
Quite obviously experts... @acidyo, your cover is blown.
:)
bahahaha!
An epic tale, meme, and first vote!
It is true from the conversations I've had with @acidyo, that the words 'fuck' and 'power up' have been said often.
Nicely done!
I think he uses other words as breaks between those.
😆

lolol
@acidyo did grant me my first whale upvote for the worldcup contest. Still gratefull for that.
While I did not knew about him until a week ago, he seems to really care about the steem eco system!
What I also do like about him, is that he does answers on questions (just like you @tarazkp)!
Still waiting on his own entry for the world cup! And where is yours @tarazkp.
It is not about the contest but I do see more and more interaction on these post, which was my wildest dream!
I do find interaction utmost important to lift this Steem blockchain to a next level. It is great to see people like him, you and for sure @abh12345 who do feel the same. You are the ones the whom the community is listening! I can should and scream all I want but most of it will be unheared.
All the three of you are really influencers. @abh12345 with his engagement league and witness project, @acidyo with his generosity and the premier league contest he was running together with @nanzo-scoop if I am not mistaken, and you with your posts with lots of interaction!
I may not forget @taskmaster4450 in this, from whom I did learn the importance of interaction.
So without wanting to suck up, thanks for taking care of the community and the Steem blockchain!
No, I don’t want to score an upvote from you just keep doing what you all are doing.
Promote interaction, promote that people have to create communties because this is what will make the chain better!
And do promote our world cup contest, I dont mind the extra work, because it will give the blockchain an extra chance for intaction! ( just kidding it I could not leave it our as @sbcbot ambassador)
Seriously all of you are giving the steem ecosystem another dimension!
Keep it going!
Greeting from a small red fish!
Cheers,
Peter
Australia will take it this year...
Yeah, there are still people working but it is getting more and more difficult I think as those working are also looking long and they see where it is headed if they aren't growing enough too. Will work something out though :)
You could be rich if this come true :)
Looking forward to receive your entry!
Happy steemit birthday @acidyo. May your efforts not go unrewarded.
I have been curated by OCD and have benefitted from the ocd-resteem tag, so I can claim to have benefitted from his presence on the platform too. I am glad that he is your friend @tarazkp. Tell him I said thank you.
You can tell him yourself :)
Talking about support , @acidyo is heaven sent to me on steemit. He has been a beacon of light and an icon to me on here. Dunno what I would have done without him.
I was shocked to the marrow the first day I saw his upvote on my post. Who am I that he decided to visit my blog? The second came and then came the third and the next thing he decided to follow me and I was like ...woah!
I have been longing to see what he looks like but i guess he loves to keep his identity secret so I stopped asking.
It isn't easy manually curating undervalued contents on the steem blockchain but he does that and does it diligently. He is also quite a very hardworking fellow.
Funny enough you too the idea of this post off my head as I was thinking of making a post soon about acidyo and was preparing to do my own findings and Kaboom...you dropped this. I think this is even better than what I would have come up with.
Now it's time for some good laugh...@acidyo flagged himself. Now that got me cracking :-D
Very nice summary of this Pokemon guy. Guess I’ll have to do one of you when I’m rich and famous xD. Anyway happy (steem?) birthday acidyo and thank you taraz for the great post :).
Also acid if you see this thanks for your votes now I can buy a new PC and also thanks Taraz and I don’t know what else to say so I’ll see you at Mew-York.
Lol.
I mean, he hasn't really been helping you selflessly in that case, he's just been repenting for that one shitpost this entire time, and I bet he still desperately tries to scrub the blood off his hands to this day.
On a serious note though, as I've pointed out several times, he did exactly the same for me, boosting my posts rapidfire in my early days until I could stand on my own two feet, and I even get the odd poke of an upvote to this day. The fruit of his loins spreads far and wide.
Now I just feel dirty.
