Two scientists walk into a bar.
"I'll have H20", says the first.
"I'll have H2O, too", says the second.
The bartender gives them both water, because he is able to distinguish boundary tones that dictate the grammatical function of homonyms in coda position, as well as pragmatic context.

Apparently, this joke also is found here, http://allthingslinguistic.com/post/93815165446/a-linguist-walks-into-a-bar along with two other really good jokes. I had not seen this site before, but thanks for pointing it out to me @dj123.

Pragmatic context might be the most elusive human resource.

Agreed. Which is reduced even more with the replacing of face to face conversations with emails, and even worse with texts.

Updated. Thanks!

I just gave you an example you can update it with the source of where you got it from.

We gotta keep the integrity and quality of our post and humor top notch don't you agree?

We'll all be thankful when Steem goes over $20 before June2018 next year.

And you'll be super glad when Steemhits $10,000 around the turn of the next decade.

Just dropped you a $1000 tip there ;)

Someone at work told it to me. What is the best way to source a verbal joke? Is it best to search for it on the internet to try to see if there is an original source? I completely agree with keeping Steemit from becoming a plagiarism machine. Thanks for the tip, both literally and financially.

Entirely up to your creativity,

personally I would google it first especially when you have such a amazing identic memory to recall it verbatium ;)

Here's another $1K tip, curie curators gets paid $20 to $200 Steem every few weeks, and they go through the same process, not just check for plagiarism, but also translated plagirism as well as automated word crunch (re-phrased) plagiarism. I've submitted a number of them to a pool of curators, and so far I have most accepted by them, and curie upvoted up-to $50 on my selection, I'm not getting rewarded for this, I'm trying to help talented authors get notice to bring greater esteem to our community, just sharing alittle about their process.

oh yeah, here is a $10K tip, throw in your entire punchline next time when googling, you'll find better ideas for a humorous picture that can magnify your post easily 2x to 5x. Imagine everyone of your $2 SBD/Steem post could easily be $10 when you bring it from great to outstanding :D

Straight shooter, tell em how it is!!

Waiting for your next 100 reps or the blackandwhite challenge I nominated you for oh curator extraordinaire.
