People I like to see at steemit - Joseph Herscher

in #funny8 years ago

I'm starting a new series today, where I will share stuff from very talented people that I like to see at steemit.

Today: Joseph from the Joseph's Machines Youtube Channel and his Power Nap Machine

Joseph Herscher specializes in making comical chain-reaction machines. His videos have been viewed by over 10 million people online. Joseph grew up in New Zealand and now lives in New York, where he continues to create his eccentric machines for film, television and art festivals around the world. He is also a public speaker and has told his inspirational story at international design and business conferences. -- From his homepage

Above I linked to his power napping machine.
(The interesting part of the video starts at 53 seconds, so don't bother the preview image.)

I'd like to write him an email, to tell him that he should come over here and monetize his content.

Certainly I will also transfer all the SBDs this post generates to him, as soon as he joins.

What do you think, is this considered spamming or would it be a legit way to get cool people on the steem-train?

Hey @shortcut I am Joseph Herscher. I just saw your post as I have a google alert set up for my name! You aroused my curiosity, so I signed up and I'm looking around :-)

Hi @josephherscher, welcome at steemit! It is absolutely amazing to have you on board!

I'm such a fan of your work and I thought, you could really also post some of your videos here and make some more money and friends.

At first I would suggest to make a post under the #introducemyself tag where you tell this community something about your work and show some examples.

Also any kind of verification is highly recommend in this post: Some people here add photos holding steemit signs to their introduction post. Others post an 'official' statement on one of their other social media channels or blogs.

You might want to check how others do, looking at the trending indroducemyself posts.

I'm sure you'll able to get many votes for your funny videos here. And as promised I'm going to send you steemdollars to get you started, as soon as you verify as the real Joseph Herscher. You are able to exchange them to Bitcoin at some places or use them to power-up. This would be a kind of an investment.

Feel free to get in contact anytime, if you have questions. You can also find me at steemit chat under the same username @shortcut.

Again, welcome at steemit! Can't wait to see your first post trending :-)

Hey @shortcut, thanks for all this helpful information :-)

Just from looking around it seems like the posts are blog-type posts, with text and pictures. My work is video based, and as far as I can tell you can't upload videos here, right?

Hi @josephherscher, thanks for getting back to me.

You can easily embed youtube videos in any post here by just pasting the youtube link in the text-field after you clicked on 'submit a story' on the top right of the screen.

If you wanted to add some images you could use your own webserver or some free image hosting sites like https://www.steemimg.com

There is a basic editor build in here, which you can use to format your post. Also markdown and basic html commands are supported.

When you want to add tags to your post, you just have to seperate them by spaces (no need of commas or #-characters). As I told you already, good tags for an indroductory post would be: introducemyself, funny, art and video

Don't hesitate to ask me for further assistance: I would be really excited, if you'd give it a try.

Thanks again for the info! I will do an introductory post soon.

Welcome to Steemit Joseph!
Funny Video from you, very goodl!

I think it is legit. You acknowledged the creator of this work and do not seem to want anything other than to bring more talent to the platform. Good for you..

Hopefully good for all of us. Thanks for your feedback.
