Extended Home Warranty @senseicat
This past summer, I noticed that my neighbor’s entire family was sitting inside their mini van, parked in their driveway for several hours. Mama bear hopped out and told me that their air conditioning was broken and Arizona heat was 110 degrees. They purchased an extended home warrranty, but the AC service company was extremely busy. Each time they came out, the technicians thought that they had fixed it and left, before our neighbors realized that it was indeed not fixed. They called, re-scheduled another appointment, technicians came, and repeated this scenario several times before it actually got fixed.
In the meantime, it was too hot to stay in their home so they had to rent a hotel room for the good part of the week rejecting my offer to camp inside my house. Yes, I realized that they respected the fact that our friendship for all these years may indeed be affected if we all tried to reside in the same residence.
By the time you factor in the monthly cost of the home warranty, calls in to get service, time it takes for you to be home for the servicing, and other incidental costs such as hotel rooms, I just wonder if it is worth it.
Perhaps, if they offset our neighbor’s cost for lost wages while sitting at home waiting for the repair folks, hotel, and food costs, it would be a better protection warranty.

Somehow, I think the repair technicians are gaming the insurance program. I can’t understand how they don’t fully fix the problem the first time and the AC stops working within days. Ultimately they bill the insurance company for several repairs to the cost that could have been used to replace the entire unit. Eventually the AC unit gets replaced anyway. The repair technician gets paid multiple times.
They have no incentive to actually fix the AC. When many attempts to fix the unit fail the unit gets replaced with a new one. The homeowner is elated that they actually got a new AC unit and somehow that makes all their trouble worth it. The cost eventually gets paid by the homeowner in high insurance premiums. It is these people that have additional hotel costs while waiting for a technician or parts to show up. I don’t see the value in that.
The better deal by far is to have money saved to cover repair cost of repair or replacement. Also basic troubleshooting and easy fixes can be found on YouTube and Google. Most of the time the problem is a easy-to-replace $10 part. The technician will charge $200 for a visit alone. Then they will charge you a premium for the part when they get it at wholesale price.

There is a saying in my native language that goes like this "respect last longer between friends by paying visit to each other rather than leaving together.for this reason ,it is better the way he rejected staying with you in oder to keep that relationship healthy.
they should have accepted your offer to camp in with you, twas just for a little while, would have saved them some money.i mean what are friends for.
