BREAKING NEWS: Recent MBA Graduate knows nothing about Blockchain but starts an ICO to Get Rich Quick! (crypto satire)
Tom is a recent MBA graduate and is looking to make mark on the world. He thinks he’s a pretty hot shot and wants to make the most money he can as quick as he can. He’s got a LinkedIn profile with a picture of himself in a suit looking very suave. He doesn’t have a lot of experience but claims to be an Entrepenuer. He’s confident he fits the criteria because he sold lemonade on the street when he was 5, and frequently lists his roommate’s stuff on Craigslist.
Now after a bit of googling he finds out people are getting rich quick through something called the blockchain and Initial Coin Offerings or ICOs. He doesn’t know anything about any of this but he bullshitted his way through university so he’s confident he can bullshit his way through this. After all he saw people invested $5 million into Sand Coin, which you can supposedly trade for real life sand! How about that!
A couple days later and good ol’ Tom has a concept, well kind of. He’s scoured the depths of Reddit to find the latest technological buzzwords and he’s come up with a list:
- Machine learning
- Artificial Intelligence
- Blockchain
- Sharding
- Quantum Computing
- Internet of Things
Tom has no idea what any of them mean, but knows he only needs to write 2-3 pages at size 12, which he can later change to 10 pages at size 40 to make what’s called a “whitepaper.” He says he’s confident he can do this in the next few days, and will keep us informed.
