Steemit and its community was predicted in the 19th century!
There are some moments in life where events are unexpectedly predicted by « prophets ». Whether that prophecy is born out of humor reasoning and deduction, chance, or just plain humor, who knows? However, it seems like the Steem community was pretty well described in this 1851’s classic, Moby Dick. Perhaps Herman Merville didn't expect to become a prophet, but with his book full of exploring wild seas and a deathly struggly to hunt a big, fat, whale, come on! The comparison is too juicy to pass up. This excerpt comes from Chapter 1 :
> Chief among these motives was the overwhelming idea of the great whale himself. Such a portentous and mysterious monster roused all my curiosity. Then the wild and distant seas where he rolled his island bulk; the undeliverable, nameless perils of the whale; these, with all the attending marvels of a thousand Patagonian sights and sounds, helped to sway me to my wish. Let's just hope Steemit doesn't end like Moby Dick...!
