Same here (41 years). I always wondered what girls are doing to make such a mess. Interesting.
Now that you know, you can never unknow. I don't derive any sadistic pleasure from having implanted this knowledge in your brain or anything... ;)
To add to the lining of the seat with toilet paper... I read somewhere, can't remember where now, a couple years ago, that the fine mist of water that goes into the air upon flushing makes the toilet paper, and other nearby things, collect bacteria. I don't know if this is true or not. Could just be one of those new things they come out with every decade or so to make people think they'll catch something, perhaps this one didn't stick???
