My Cat Who Tried To Rescue Me From "Drowning"
I thought I'd share a picture and a story about my cat who tried to rescue me from "drowning".
Last summer I was pregnant and with my pregnancy I noticed that one of my pets acted differently around me. I have 5 cats. Four of the cats acted oblivious to the changes I was going through. The only one who seemed to know I was different was Snowy my white cat. He is a very independent guy who spends most of his time outside. He doesn't cuddle much and is a bit of a loner. When I got pregnant he got very clingy. He'd follow me everywhere and would lay near me all the time. He HATED it when I got near water. Cats are afraid of water and I think he feared I was going to drown.
Snowy Trying To Save Me From The Pool
We got a small kids swimming pool for the yard because I needed something to help with the swelling and back pain from all the weight I was carrying. You can see in the pictures I only filled it partially full (knee deep so I could sit and relax). Snowy hated it when I got in the pool. He'd follow me to the pool every day and would start meowing at me after I got in the water. I could tell he had anxiety. He'd lay on the ground near the pool and would wait for me to get out before heading off to other parts of the yard. Sometimes he'd move to lie down on whatever side of the pool I was on.

The day these pictures were taken I was around 7 months pregnant. Snowy REALLY didn't want me in the pool that day and got up on a chair by the pool. He used it to climb on the side and slowly walked along the ledge towards me. He tried to get to me and was meowing and full of anxiety. I could tell he didn't want to fall in the water himself and was carefully climbing on the narrow pipe ledge to get to me. I swam over to him and rescued him. I picked him up and put him back on the chair. Then I got out of the pool and petted on him to make him feel better.
He also did similar behavior when I took baths. Our shower broke so I could only take baths during my pregnancy. Snowy would get on the side of the tub every time and wait for me to finish my bath. He'd meow and a few times climbed on my chest which wasn't submerged to nuzzle with my face.
I have an identical cat. Cats can be very weird sometimes. She drives me crazy sometimes. Always trying to sit on top of my keyboard.
I love white cats. Snowy is about 10 years old and still so beautiful. They are weird sometimes. Snowy likes my keyboard too. I think he thinks I like to pet the keys and that he needs to be pet instead.
