my grandfather used to keep a German potato masher in a box beneath his bed. it was the dud, that was a reminder of how close he came. the battle of the bulge was not a very fun place. he never used it as a mallet.
No wars are fun.. My grandpa kept one too, for being a guerrilla fighter blowing up transportation bridges during the Japanese occupation here.
wow. glad our leaders mostly got over that crap. don't get me wrong, politicians are still crazy, but i'd rather get along with people of Japanese descent than shoot at each other.
