Whale Penis and Monkey TailsteemCreated with Sketch.

It seems that the consensus revolves around two types of content. Talking about the whale penises (and the things they stick them in) and not having a long enough tail (have to peel bananas somehow). There is an idea floating around that the reason that it is hard to keep users active is because of the poor content. Bravo Sierra!

It is because new users cannot make any money. Let's be realistic, most new users are not going to post. And if that is true then that means all they have left over is curation. How is that working out for them? The only chance new users has is Author vote splitting. @steemsports / @furion, I believe was one of the few choices that new users had to collect some Steem Power. But along comes some whale penis and says it isn't good for the network.

Some few new users are going to post, shout out to @barvon. The only way we will get a long tail is if we get all kinds of content. Good and bad. One man's garbage is another man's treasure is what I say. The only way to get lots of content to bring in lots of new people. if we bring in new people we have to give them a way to make money if they are not going to post

I woke up this morning with a bad hangover
And my penis was missing again.
This happens all the time.
It's detachable.

...

I had to buy it off him.
He wanted twenty-two bucks, but I talked him down to seventeen.
I took it home, washed it off,
And put it back on. I was happy again. Complete.

The above lyrics is a perfect example of a two sided market. Buyer and seller. I still think he paid too much for it. What do you think?

Right now there is a fallow market. The 30 day post. If a subscription model is setup where users get their posts that are greater than 30 days to be curated by the new users. The new users would get paid some of the subscription. I know. I know. It's vote buying. But is it really. The 24 hour time is past. The whales have come and gone. It gives the original author another byte at the banana. The new users get a chance to earn some Steem.

I figure start the split of subscription at 50% and classify new users as < 3 month old account and Reputation <= 55.

Interesting post, and very informative and comprehensive in its content. It will be interesting to see how the current situation develops and how the platform evolves in response to various sociological pressures currently manifesting.

My point is that we need to innovate in thoughts and ideas and how to grow the user base. There are some outstanding people here trying to open steemit up for new blood @stellabelle, @lukestokes, @hilarski, and many others. Old rules may no longer apply.

Right now, that 30-day payout is basically wasted space. Nothing happens to posts after the first payout 99.9% of the time.

That's what I thought til this happened.

0.000 SD, and 5.083 STEEM POWER for gutzofter/tag-you-re-it-call-out-to-my-witnesses

Not to shabby.

Lets say 5 SP/post and 4 posts a day * 30 = 600 SP Max per month
