Heh, I guess traditionalism is now viewed as oppressive.
Over a million Americans identify themselves as transgendered. They deserve the same respect and freedoms that every other American enjoys. Unfortunately, targeting vulnerable communities of minorities to score political points with xenophobes is the core of the Republican platform these days.
They have both the same freedoms and rights as any other American.... but they only "deserve" what they achieve.... they have a right to property... they have a right to protect that property... they DONT have a right to people agree'ing with them though
They have fought for, and must continue fighting for, equal treatment under the law. Many states still have laws on the books that discriminate against LGBTQ citizens. They only recently won the right to be married, and they are currently fighting for the right to be in the military.
Regardless of what laws are passed and changed, there is a homophobic good-old-boys network that continues to target them with impunity, and it needs to stop.
Let's not forget the good-old-people's network that continues to target the transabled with impunity....
