A rescue story

This is Mera. She is about 6 years old and we think she is a mastiff. She has been part of our family for just a short 6 months.

She was rescued from a not so great situation. Her owners left her chained outside all the time with no shelter. She was out there in the rain and snow. She had a pyometra and was on the verge of death when she was brought to the vet.

The owners were unable to pay for the surgery but luckily, my friend that works at the vet's office, was able to get the owners to sign Mera over to her. She paid for the surgery to save Mera's life. Mera live at the vet's office for 3 months while a home was found for her.

We had recently, within a few months, lost our dog Maycee who was part of our family for around 12 years. The lose was hard on all of us. While my wife and I weren't quite ready to fill that void, the kids were. She's been living the good life ever since.
