Any takers? I feel this is the path that the Olympic committee has set.
All joking aside, I feel the acceptance of North Korea to the games, is giving him legitimacy and over looking the atrocities, that have been committed by the Dictatorship.
To participate in the Olympics North Korea tried to persuade high-ranking representatives of the International Olympic Committee. They believed that the presence of the DPRK citizens at the Games would reduce the likelihood of provocations. For the country made a number of easements: athletes placed separately from other participants, paid them movement and accommodation, provided with necessary sports equipment and a form.
Despite the thaw, a number of Western analysts do not believe that North Korea's intentions to go to a truce are sincere. They believe that Kim Jong-UN is deliberately pretending to be friendly, to get more time to develop its nuclear program. The same opinion is shared and the Prime Minister of Japan Shinzo Abe.
In order not to confuse foreigners, the South Korean government renamed the city of the games. Latin name is written as Pyeongchang — according to Koreans, it can be confused with Pyongyang - "Pyongyang" in the English version. Why the official name of the city another letter made uppercase: Reeorded.
At the previous Olympic games, the flags of North and South Korea were confused during the awards ceremony. When the athletes stood on the podium, instead of the red and blue of the flag of the DPRK raised the white Korean. The situation has become scandalous. It is noteworthy that only South Koreans apologized for the mistake.
I don't think it's fair to count them out. The 2010 Olympics in Vancouver, CAN had to have snow shipped in from the north and in 2014 (Sochi, Russia) the snow was saved from the previous year so they'd have enough (an article on it). My bro is a camera man for a TV news station and I saw some of the pix he took in Russia. The ground was patchy between mud and snow. Palestine might have a chance.👍
Well, I would go back to Europe and say Belarus; since we are talking about people who are a little malicious, Aleksandr Lukashenko doesn't have a very healthy mind and his heart is colder than the low temperatures of the country. I think he's a good opponent XD
imagine a scenario in which the 2022 Olympics were held in Palestine, this could construct a demolished express, this would truly be a gigantic social guide in this century.
Its funny that you mention this. I know that I personally was super confused about the selection to go back to South Korea. The Olympics is one of those events were I always fear terrorists may choose tomattackmbexausenofmthe grandiose scale of the event. Lots of people in a close spares celebrating the freedoms the world has provided. So yes, South Korea although a winter haven was an interesting choice given the state of relations with North Korea. (Great pic of him btw lol) Not only are we heading to a "risky" area, weren't we just there? Well, it. Was 1998 I'm Seoul so not as recent as I though but it prompted me to look at Olympic hosts. We will continue to travel Asia again for the next couple Olympic if you include summer and winter. Beijing seems to be a popular destination. 2026 is still open and I know that Canada is putting in a bid again. Fingers crossed for that!
2014 Sochi was doubly embarrassing because of the warm weather there. It felt like a total IOC fraud that they chose this city. At least PyeongChang has proven to be cold and snowy so on that front it's an improvement. But I agree, some of the news coverage of Kim Jong Un's sister was, uhh....problematic to say the least.
Do you know where 2022 is? Beijing, China! Back to another country with human rights issues. Fun times.
On a personal note, I'm so excited that 2028 is in my city of Los Angeles. I've always wanted to go to the Olympics, but never considered it because of sheer cost between flight and hotel on top of tickets. But by living in the city, my only cost would be the tickets. I think it would be fun to go to some of the more obscure events just to check it out.
these one is quite interesting

Definitely confusing times over there, and a lot of moves behind the scenes. I feel the same way, they are just stalling.
what if the 2022 Olympics were held in Palestine, this could build a ruined state, this would really be a tremendous social aid in this century
I don't believe they get snow.
