Yeah its pretty faint to see unless your eyes have fully adjusted to pitch black. Even then they are faint unless lots of them are stacked on eachother.

A little less magical then, but still very cool!
With a long exposure camera shot they look magical. Maybe in the pacific northwest where there are acres of them it would be a sight to see.

I just googled "glowing mushrooms" and I am amazed. How did I not see it before? :o
If i find any jackolanterns this year i plan on setting them up for a long exposure.
