INAC won't do anything :( Even if you find them guilty of missappropriating funds... We reported this to the police, police said "it's not your money that they stole, so you don't have standing to make a complaint" :( $175,000 was misappropriated by our Indian Band... INAC did nothing. RCMP did nothing. It was all documented... But you are right... the band office sure gets stupid over some of this stuff.

What happened is INAC told us (on tape) is they know money is missing but it would cost more to get it back that was missing. On tape... they said it on tape!! Which was dumb of them.
Then the rcmp came in when we reported it but INAC asked them if INAC could look into it first. The fun INAC is having with us is there's evidence in their possession now that shows they're aware crimes happened... but also that they looked the other way.
Best part. Some of the missing money is mine so rcmp can look into it.
THAT IS HIGHLY COOL!!!!! :) You are right -- But don't be surprised if the cops don't pursue it... They told me they would have to refer it to a special task force "GIS general investigative services" -- to determine if they should investigate because at the local detachment level they could not make that determination... I hope... I hope.. I really hope you get justice on this... but I fear the outcome.. SO MANY people have similar stories with INAC funding... What's the name of the finance guy you deal with in INAC? It's not Brian George is it, I hope. Anyways... keep up the great work. Love to read about it.
The Special Investigations branch was the group doing the rcmp investigation, they're now watching INAC carefully because of the evidence popping up with them.
