Reading exercises, Update #10 "Puppets in the community PROJECT"
Welcome to this tenth update of the muppets in the Community project, which aims to train children in the wonderful and magical art of puppet theatre, as well as in the education of the Blockchain and ecological education.
I still have some difficulties to continue uploading updates of the project, so I am advancing things that have already happened, my intention was to make a daily account of the activities given to the children.
This activity took place a few days ago, and for me is one of the most indispensable, is perhaps the key piece of the theater in all its presentations and disciplines, reading exercises along with exercises of vocalization, projection and modulation is the soul of the theater.
In the case of children is a little difficult this type of reading exercises as they have many deficiencies when it comes to reading and understanding, this deficiency comes from the Venezuelan educational system that unfortunately does not meet international standards for proper teaching, so I see a great opportunity for children to better their reading through puppet theater as it provides pedagogical tools that escape the monotony and form a little old-fashioned to teach in schools.
Some children have some dyslexia problems, and although at first they were frustrated to pass each child to read about a fragment of the literature I chose, they felt more comfortable and fearless. In addition, I could relate my experience as a child suffering from dyslexia, I told him how it is possible to overcome that difficult to speak and express themselves through theater, there are countless exercises to overcome such problems that can significantly affect intellectual development if not treated properly.
For example, one of the children told me that thanks to Christopher Columbus and the Spaniards and priests they had brought culture to Venezuela by teaching the aborigines a language, how to dress and other things related to Spanish culture. When in reality what happened was an invasion and then perhaps the greatest genocide ever committed in history, where unofficial data indicate that at least 290 million aborigines were executed by the Spanish, Portuguese and British crown during their stay in the American continent. In addition, the Inca, Aztec and Mayan cultures were much more advanced than the European culture, only being compared with the Asian culture. Having a long tradition of knowledge in textiles, medicine, architecture, agriculture, metallurgy and many aspects of human knowledge.
I think it was necessary to explain a little what was discussed with the children related to the reading in which they participated because one of my objectives is to bring children closer to the art and ancestral culture that we have in our continent, rich in mixtures and unique nuances. It also shows the degree of post-colonial cultural domination or rather neo-colonialism that is current in the idiosyncrasy of American peoples.
Keep up this great work. It is wonderful to see the children have this opportunity.
That's it, I'm almost done with the project, and I'm on my way to start the next one. all for the kids.
This looks like a worthy cause. I like to see grass-roots efforts that help the children directly.
Thank you for supporting and appreciating the project, that's the idea, to give children attention and art for their lives.
