Ithaqa Fundition Update 36 The Four of Swords

Tomorrow I get to finally continue working on Issue 4 again, and I am itching to do so!

I also reached out again to the publisher who previously provided Ithaqa Issue 1, with some much needed storytelling tough love. I doubt I would drastically alter issue 1 at this point, even if he came back with a lot more criticism, but it would be nice to find out if we addressed his initial concerns.

He had a very productive conversation with my editor (months ago), and the notes we gleaned from that conversation were a big part of why we put the art on pause, and decided to revamp the story. It was a scary decision for me, because I couldn't fathom allowing myself to lose the momentum Theresa and I had been building for this series.

Not to get too flaky, but what I really needed was the energy of the 4 of swords:

In the tarot, swords are almost always a sign of something unpleasant, always a challenge placed before you. The Four of Swords, is actually one of the more peaceful looking, sword suited cards, but it represents the challenge of sitting still. The challenge of silence, and quiet preparation.

It's kinda a card that I scoffed at in the past, how could a card that means "just cool it", be so unpleasant? Turns out it is VERY hard for me to sit still, even when it is absolutely the right thing to do. I'm not going to sit here, and promise you the greatest comic you've ever seen, but I will say that the time I've taken to redo the scripts, has been immensely important. The version you guys will see, is a hell of a lot better than what I first attempted to put out.

So thank you all for bearing with me, I sure hope you find this comic worth the wait!

So thank you all for bearing with me, I sure hope you find this comic worth the wait!

Oh, but the wait is why I came in the first place! Anyone can buy a finished comic and enjoy it well enough. But to closely examine the all of the heartache and toil that goes into a comic (practicallyin real time) is worth genuine admiration.

So thank YOU guys for providing us with this level quality of work in Ithaqa.
