Surthrival Trailer Mark 1 Update #34 Creating a Hexayurt Aircrete Panel

Hello my fellow Steemians!

Today I have a new update for the Surthrival trailer project covering the build of a hexayurt aircrete panel section.

I used this 3'x25' roll of hardware cloth as reinforcement for the wall section that is about to be poured.

I cut a 7' section of my 25' wide clear 6mil plastic and laid it down on the mold.

To create the aircrete I started with around 7 gallons of water.

Using a little dragon DIY foam generator I filled a 5 gallon bucket with approximately 4 teaspoons of dish soap. The foam generator mixes air from a compressor at around 40psi and the water/soap mixture coming from a small pump.

Using a pair of sheet metal shears I cut the metal hardware cloth to fit just inside the mold.

I used 2 layers of this roll to cover the entire panel area.

I used around 25 lbs of sand to mix with an 80lb bag of high strength concrete.

Foam was injected as concrete was added and stirred with a paddle mixer. I mixed until the entire bag of concrete was added while the foam was injected.

I used a 6' board to smooth the aircrete after pouring into the mold.

I used approximately 80gallons of aircrete to create this 3'10"x8'x2" panel section. My mixture was a little off and the high strength concrete I used did not mix completely. I believe the best product to use for this is portland cement but wanted to experiment with a cheaper concrete option.

Thank you for your time if you gave this a read!

Yours in liberty toward a brighter future, may the great creator bring peace and joy into your hearts, Greg @makinstuff

It will be interesting to see how heavy this panel is when it's set and dry.

I tried using a different concrete mix than portland cement this time and it did not turn out. I'm creating a new batch with the portland cement tonight and will post an update from those results.

Ooo a hexayurt 😃 looking forward to seeing that come to completion. Interested to see how heavy/strong these panels come out at. Thanks for sharing 👍

Thank you @digitaldan this is experimental to me as well I tried using a high strenght concrete mix that ended up being a bust. I know portland cement works but wanted to try the high strength mix because it was cheaper. Going to do a new batch with the portland cement tonight
and do the update after those results.
