Skirts

To make skirts, it is very important to take measurements of waist circumference, skirt height, hip height and hip contour.
Care must be taken that the person to whom the measures are being taken is in the correct position, the body correctly straight. You have to write down the measurements.
In the development of the outline of the basic skirt it is important to draw a rectangle with measure of skirt height and quarter of hip, forming the rectangle of the basic skirt.

Stroke pattern for the skirt

The outline of the skirt implies following a series of steps in a logical order, which will facilitate its understanding.

Back pattern

Note:

 Join points 4 and 5 with curved line
 Apply on each side of the 7,1.5 cm point. to trace
clamp up to point 8.
 Apply symbology in the stroke.

  • This procedure is performed in the cutout of patterns: Close the clamp and join then Points 4 and 9, with a curved template, to give shape to the waist.

  • This procedure is performed in the cutout of
patterns: Close the clamp and join then
Points 4 and 9, with a curved template, to give
    shape to the waist.

The base skirt pattern

The initial rectangle is the skirt length multiplied for the fourth part of hip contour. At the height from the hip height we mark a horizontal line. The left end will be A.
In the upper horizontal line of the rectangle we mark the fourth part of the waist plus 3 cm measuring from the right (B). We join A and B with a curve, which will protrude 1 cm above the rectangle and this end we will join with another curve with another point located half cm below the corner Upper right.
Pinza 8 cm from the center of 10 cm each side.

To the fourth part of waist contour in the back we subtract 1 and add 3 of the clip. In the front we add 1 and 3 of the clamp. A quarter of hip contour we subtract 1 in the back and add 1 in the front.
The clamp will be located at the 8th part of the waist contour in the front counted from the center of the piece, and in the back at 1 cm less. The length of the clip will be 10 cm in the front and 11 cm in the back. The length of the zipper will be 18 cm and the long back open will be to taste. On the base and on the side of the skirt we mark 1 cm, we join this point with a straight line with the end of the curve of the hip (hip height) and to avoid that makes us weird shapes we will draw another curve that saves us the peak that has formed (approximately from the half of the curve of the hip to the half of the line that we have drawn). Putting the skirt on the bottom allows us to stylize it.
If the fabric is double width we will buy the length of the skirt plus 5 cm for the belt although we could have enough with what is left over from the sides.

Making

 Once the fabric is cut, we pass threads to mark the pattern on both sides. These threads are left loose and then separate the 2 parts and cut them. The seam of the back is stitched directly. Then we will knit the skirt and test it,
if it looks good, we remove the loose threads where we have basted and sewn by machine (we remove the loose threads before sewing, because if it is caught, the sewing of the machine will be more difficult to remove them).
 By the same pattern we cut the lining and proceed in the same way, leaving the seam on the back shorter. After this we overcast all the edges (from right to left).

Then we put the zipper that sews: the part of the right with long stitches inside turning backwards every time we put the needle so that the stitch is not visible outside, that is, very short, the part on the left of the zipper, is sewn with a hidden stitch.
 The fabric on the right is the one that fits over the zipper and the closure of the zipper must reach where the waistband will be placed.
 When basting as a checkered cloth we will do it for the right and it is the same as sewing with a hidden stitch.
 Place the lining matching seams, clips and top edge. The lining is sewn to the edge of the zipper with a hidden stitch.
 We cut a rectangle for the waistband whose length will be the waist circumference plus 6 cm and the width 11 cm, to make a waist of 4 cm.
 We intertwine it completely and once interwoven, we baste it to the skirt leaving it on the outside, just where the waistband starts and ends, which will be where the zipper is going, we will leave 1 cm of margin to the right and then put it in and leave it well finished and what on the other side. We sew by the waist, cut the interlining what's left and also what's left over. We raise the waistband up and we string together just through the fold taking all the fabrics up.
 We stack the right and left edges by 1 cm more or less. We bend the waistband to 4 cm and we weave and putting the edge we thread the lower part of the waistband. We topped by sewing machine, stitching, the entire edge of the
waistband.
 The bottom of the lining is stitched and the one of the skirt is stitched together and then we sew it.
 So that we do not see the lining by the open we bend it a little and we stitch it.
