@polebird: ❤️ Acro-mazing time in Costa Rica - Part 2 ❤️
My sister @karensuestudios once invited me to an acro yoga retreat in Costa Rica for a sister's trip after I had only played one weekend of beginner acro yoga with her. I love trying new activities, and although I wasn't sure if I would be able to do much, I went for it! This is part two of my Costa Rica blog posts. If you missed the first post check it out here. The retreat really was acro-mazing - it's so much fun to play with other yogis and make new friends. Photograph below was taken by my friend @victorgphoto - the retreat is actually where I met him! Do you spy @karensuestudios in there?
I definitely learned some acro moves and terminology during this retreat and want to share some photographs with you of different poses I learned. The partner on top is called the flyer and the bottom is called the base. (Photo below by the awesome @victorgphoto!)
This one is called flag. The flyer actively flexes their foot to hold tightly to the base's neck while the base squeezes with the neck. There's actually similarities here with a crazy pole move called starfish (look up #pdstarfish on instagram if you are curious)!
I had my first encounters with standing acrobatics as well! This was pretty cool, doesn't this high bird remind you of the move from dirty dancing?
I was really excited to find out that they also had invited aerial silks teacher Jamie to the retreat, and that she would be teaching beginner classes.
Okay, this next photo, there just happened to be a rope swing above the pool of a waterfall we went to. Other people see a rope swing, aerialists see.... somewhere to invert. LOL :)
Some delicious drinks, after a day's of play and activities!
Thanks for reading friends! Steem on!
Jess
P.S. Stay tuned for part 3 about our island adventures!
Acro yoga and Costa Rica seem to be a great combo. I need to get out there! Closest I've been (which isn't that close) is Peru!
Such gorgeous photos!
:D hehe you should totally go with your bro! Thank you so much :)
This is inspirational, Namaste
Thank you!
Wow, can I apply for you to teach me @polebird? With what I see you guys doing with acro yoga, you may actually get winds to fly someday.
The poses are awesome. 😀
hahah i'm afraid I may not be a great acro teacher :P I still need to be walked through as a flyer on some of the combo moves heheheh, thank you glad you are enjoying them
Haha, I don't think you will make a bad acro teacher. Remember you made a video somedays back teaching us how to go about some skills.
Apart from your two little friends running around then, you were awesome in the teaching aspect. Haha
Oh, I would like to apply for acro yoga retreat in Costa Rica as well. And if it's possible I would love to stay there forever! ;)
aww yeah! the handstand nation holds a retreat a couple times a year :)
