RE: FruitsAndVeggiesMonday ~ Wastefree Weekend Food Shopping

Just curious - is your Green Market organic, or locally grown produce? We have a fruit and veg market once a week in the village, but it's all imported produce, the only thing grown in Ireland there are the spuds!

Sort:

This market takes place three times a week and it's mostly locally grown produce and a little bit organic too. Most of them also sell imported products too depending on the time of the year. I try to limit my consumption of imported products, especially when they grow over here as well - just at another time of the year. Things like strawberries, grapes, asparagus and so on. Of cours I will never be able to buy locally grown organic franconian bananas, pineapples or oranges ... 😜 But I want them every now and then.

Ah, that sounds pretty good! I'm able to order organic veg from a place that delivers from across the country, but even then it's mostly imported. We tried growing things ourselves but Ireland is ever so wet and cold and lacking in sunlight (and we get mighty storms that blow your polytunnels up trees...) Have you seen @amy-goodrich's posts? In Cambodia she's able to grow all kinds of things... bananas, pineapples, mangos... so jealous!

Yes, I am sooo jealous! 😤
