My family wanted pizza today, even though the temperature outside is above 30 ยฐ C
I gladly fulfilled that request.

It is not easy to prepare pizza for my family, because everyone has a different idea as far as the topping is concerned, one wants olives but no broccoli, the other prefers mt olives and cauliflower, once with onions, once without and so on.

In the end I was able to satisfy everyone, and everyone enjoyed it very much!

Pizza is one of the favorite dishes in Austria. Furthermore, the pizza is a really multi-faceted dish. There is the Italian version with a crispy bottom according to the classic recipe from Naples, the pouch named Calzone and the version from the US with the thick, fluffy bottom.

Ingredients dough for 3 servings

  • 375 g of wheat flour
  • 300 ml of water, lukewarm
  • 22 g yeast, fresh
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 3 tbsp olive oil

Three pizza plates, diameter 32 cm

Preparation dough

Put the flour into a bowl, crumble the yeast into the middle, add lukewarm water slowly and mix with the wooden spoon from the middle, always adding some flour from the edge.

Now put this dough in a food processor and knead for 7 minutes. After three minutes kneading time add the olive oil and the salt.

Remove dough from the food processor and place on a floured work surface. Knead the dough by hand again for 10 minutes, while kneading some flour until the dough has a smooth consistency.

Put the dough in a floured bowl; Cover with a cloth and leave to rest in a warm place for about 30 minutes (the dough should have doubled its size).

I switch on the exposure in the oven, this is the right temperature so that the dough can rise well!

Now we have time to prepare the sauce and toppings

Ingredients for the tomato sauce

  • 200 g tomato sauce
  • salt
  • pepper
  • some olive oil
  • 3 large garlic cloves
  • Herbs (oregano, basil, rosemary)

Chop the herbs and add to the tomato sauce, add some olive oil and season with salt and pepper.

Of course, you can choose the ingredients for the topping according to your taste.

I have used the following ingredients for the topping

  • paprika, red and yellow
  • broccoli
  • cauliflower
  • Red onion
  • spring onion
  • tomatoes
  • pfefferoni
  • olives
  • Gold turnips, cooked
  • Chioggia turnips, cooked
  • Smoked sausage, vegan
  • Cheese, vegan

Cut everything into mouth-friendly pieces the way you would like to

And now we continue with the yeast dough again.

Take the dough after the rest period from the bowl and knead for 5 minutes, also incorporate some flour again.
Then divide the dough into three equal parts, form balls, cover with a cloth and let rest at room temperature for 20 minutes.

Now preheat the oven to 250 ยฐ C

Place a ball of dough on a pizza plate and press it flat from the center until it is the size of the pizza plate.
But do not press on the edge of the dough otherwise the edge will not work well.

Coat the pizza dough with one third of the tomato sauce, do not add any sauce to the outer edge.

Cover the pizza as desired and bake for about 10 minutes.
