FRUITS & VEGGIES MONDAY COMPETITION 38TH WEEK

Usually we buy vegetables and fruits from marts and wet markets. Sometimes we didn’t know the origin of fruits and vegetables when they’re planted and before harvested.

Therefore, today I would like to share with you some plants which’s planted for cooking and medicinal purpose. Below are the plants photos and description:

Sweet potato (Ipomoea batatas). In Singapore and Malaysia, the leaves of sweet potato are stir-fried with sambal belacan (spicy paste). Chinese people like to use the tubes to boil dessert (sweet soup), stewed to make porridge or fried to make french fries.

The King’s Salad (Cosmos caudatus). Malay people like to use the leaves to make salads. The young shoots taste like mangoes, and the roots have traditional medicinal functions to increase blood circulation.
