SYMBIOTIC GARDENING #fruitsandveggiesmonday

Symbiotic relationships are not necessarily mutually beneficial. Aspiring to self-sufficiency in the country, or even with a city garden, is evidence of this. Very often it is the animals who benefit while the humans lose out. I certainly won't deny the wild life food, however they often deny us our very own food! Bees have an true symbiotic relationship with humans. Ants do not. Bees covering our sunflowers are a wonderful sight. Ants, while making for a pretty photo against the sunflower, have killed entire herb bushes, even trees before we realize they are a threat.

That said; we don't exactly starve. It is wonderful standing in the green sea of veggies in the garden and picking from a variety of lettuces, beetroot, spinach, broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage and, my new favourite, kale. A lot can be said about the healing power of seasonal eating. Whether we make fresh veggie juices or fermented foods - such as sauerkraut or kimchi - eating from your own garden is such a blessing.

Although most people posting for #fruitsandveggiesmonday do beautiful arrangements, complete with yummy recipe, my photos are far more rustic. I love walking around the orchard of our homestead. Perhaps one day I can combine our delicious organic fruit or veggies with a recipe for @lenasveganliving Should our local bird, bug and baboon life spare us.
