If you don't live in the tropics perhaps you have never seen the flower of a banana tree. It is a purple spear from which a bunch of bananas form. They are healthy and also edible.
When they are made into curries they can be delicious!

Above is the banana flower sliced sideways and below it is sliced lengthwise and you can see the small bananas ready to form.
I love the rich color of these flowers but they are also rich in vitamins and have several health benefits. There is a thin but slightly sticky liquid inside the flower that tastes of bananas.
