A lot of people feel that they have not been good friends with others or others have not been good friend with him/her. There are different stages of friendship and as we grow old we tend to realise that. Depending upon the friends or group of friends we can categorise them in different groups. There are basically three types of friends and based on which each and every person that you would have been in friendship with can be categorised.  Well, it may seem bad or awkward to categorise friends but we do it unconsciously.

Old Friends

Old friends are the past persons that you have been in friendship with. Some people really feel guilty about not keeping the contact with them. If you feel the same way then just let it go because it is the past and there is no meaning to keep it if you don’t feel connected with them. Just think it as a time that were meant to be spent with and our future wants us to move on from that. You may have thousands of friends but may only talk to dozens of them. That is completely okay, there is no need to keep up with all of them and feel guilty about it.  

Maintenance Friends

These are the friends that are past friends and you are just maintaining the friendship, nothing more than that. You may have friends that you only contact once a month or even more just to keep the friendship. Maintenance friends can also be family like cousins whom you only contact once a month to just know about each other’s life and maintain the friendship. There is no need for you to go deep into friendship with others just to avoid guilt of not in touch. It is fine to have maintenance friends.

Growth Friends 

It is most important category of friends that you keep a lot of contacts with and feel joyful in their company. These are the people that you actually have all the adventures and activities with and really want them in your lives. It may be a group of friends from the college that all wanted to keep a close contact with each other. You need to have fun activities and adventures with people and these things actually help you to decide which category of friends they belong. It actually may feel bad to categorise the friends but you do it without knowing. They are the most important people that you can trust, respect and expect the same from the other side. Around growth friends you actually feel cared and do the same for others. There is certain heart to heart connection with them that lets you to be more in contact with.
