Friday's Rock
Here is this week's choice for #fridaysrock. This is a tag that I created so that I would have a spot to put all of my rock photos so that I can share them with others. I'm hoping that there are others who enjoy collecting rocks and minerals who would like to join in on the fun.
I found this rock on Lake Huron. I believe that it is a chain coral fossil. Its more official name is halysites which is an extinct genus of coral that fed on plankton millions of years ago.
Thank you for visiting today. I hope you enjoyed my rock photos.
Beautiful! Looks like a fossilized worm stuck to a regular rock! I definitely agree with a coral fossil. I love when I find these!
Thank you! Yes, it does look like a worm. I really enjoy looking for agates, but I also have many fossils that I enjoy. I plan to share photos of both. Thank you for stopping by.
Yes I have s hared a fossil or two, and have quite a few as well! Many fossils will glow like my agates, and even petrified wood!
I will have to try that with some of my fossils.
Wow looks like chains, very cool. Never seen fossil rock like that.
Thank you! It does look like little chains.
I can see why the word "chain" is in the name. So neat how it looks like a little chain is winding all around it.
I thought it was really neat too.
That is a special rock @nat-expressions. The agate looks druzy. Definitely a display piece.
Thank you @rt395. I thought it was really cool when I found it.
That is a wonderful specimen! What a great find. I have never seen one like it!
Thank you! It is the first one that I have found that had the chain coral all the way around it.
