“We guarantee full satisfaction.” She said with a smile before ringing up the man’s purchase of lemons and teabags. He seemed innocent enough, or at least that’s what she thought at the time. Little did she know that the man had two dead bodies in the trunk of his car as he drove down the road unsuspected.

She watched as the police officers reviewed the surveillance tape. She wished now she has caught even the smallest red flag. She rang him up like any other customer and he did not have any distinguishable features that she could remember.

“You say the man killed two people Officer?”

“Yes. Two people that we know. The neighbors called 911 saying they saw a man dragging the home owners out of the house and then placed them in the trunk of his car. From the description of the vehicle we tracked him here. We’ll take this photo and show it to the neighbors to be sure this was the same man. You say he only bought lemons and teas bags?”

“Yes, all he had was a bag of lemons and a box of teabags. Nothing more.”

She rushed toward the back room, stumbling down a step and grabbing at the wall to steady herself. The man was walking faster toward her, and she knew it had been the same man from the grocery store. How he tracked her down, she didn’t know. But she knew he scared her and if she could exit the back stairway she might escape him.

She reached the landing of the car garage and reached in her pockets for the keys. With shaking hands, she found the key and then unlocked the door. She looked behind her but didn’t see anyone. Quickly she fumbled her way into the car and locked the doors as fast as she could.

Never had she been so scared. She took the job at the grocery store because she thought it would be low risk. It was little store in a little town; one that never sees excitement or mystery. As she was pulling out of the garage she checked her rear-view mirror.

He was standing there in the middle of the drive watching her leave. She wouldn’t get rid of him as easily as she had hoped. She just wondered what it was he wanted with her. Did he want to kill her? Did he know she could identify him to the police? She didn’t know. All she knew was she got away this time.

She nestled closer to him only hoping this was the reason he followed her back to the city and to her apartment. He wasn’t expecting her reaction and began to relax.

She could feel his heart beating quickly. She knew if she wanted to get out of here alive, she would have to do some quick thinking. The first thing she needed to do was calm him down and find a way to get him to trust her. It wasn’t going to be easy, but it was her best chance at survival.

“You seem very uneasy. Do I make you nervous?”

“Yes. Very much.”

“Why didn’t you say something to me at the grocery store? She asked.

“I was in a hurry.”

“Was it because you had two dead bodies in the trunk of your car?”

His eyes widened. She realized that he didn’t know she knew who he was, or what he had done the day they met.

“It’s okay. I won’t tell anyone. Everyone needs love; to feel needed; wanted; accepted.”

He closed his eyes as she stroked his chest. She could feel his heart rate begin to slow.

“Let me get you some tea.”

“With lemon?”

"Of course. You just relax, and I’ll be back."

She left him alone, went into the kitchen and reached for the teabags. They were the exact same as the kind he bought. She reached under the sink and pulled out the rat poison. This would be easier than she thought….

Ding!!

You gave me shivers. This is a fantastic creepy story.

Thank you! I wasn't sure about it because the prompts were a little difficult. :D

The prompts seemed like they shouldn't be as challenging, but I really felt like I never had enough time today! I don't know if my brain was going slower or what. I just kept thinking, "Wait! I need to write a lot more story before that prompt!"

The lady who uses back the teabag strategy. Wonder if she would be in trouble with the law too! Upvoted!

@fun2learn, I thought that too! You can't just poison a guy because he's a murderer... or can you?

Ha! Your bitmoji at the end was too perfect! Now, what cookies taste best with rat poison tea? Hey, may as well do it up proper! LOL

The prompt is ready! What wonders await?
