Day 9: 5 Minute Freewrite - Prompt: After Midnight

AFTER MIDNIGHT

Jackie had been waiting for midnight. She counted down the clock and it clicked till perpetuity till 12 am. Just after midnight, her 40th birthday. She was saying goodbye to her 30s. She had done this a decade earlier bidding the 20 somethings farewell.

While she was grateful for both decades, there were fundamental differences.

For the 20s she made silly rash decisions. She was grateful she was able to rebound for the better from her mistakes. In her 30s she met her soul mate Scott and had her sweet boy Sawyer. That is what she was most thankful for.

Now as her 40s begun, she was hopeful, optimistic about the future because she was still healthy and strong. She felt as good as she felt decades earlier. But the life lessons, experiences she gained were irreplaceable. Just after midnight she hoped this routine would be repeated for many decades to come.
