Seems like lately my weekend #freewrite has been on the topic of recycling. Recycling might be the only thing that saves our planet, and if people don't learn how to do it correctly, we're fu*ked.
San Antonioan's can't seem to get the recycling process down and now the City of San Antonio is imposing a $25 fine for throwing the wrong items in the recycling bin.
Specifically, dirty diapers are the culprits. Why people would think that dirty diapers are recyclable is beyond me.
So now code compliance is driving through the neighborhood searching for non-compliant recycle bins. They tag the bin so it won't be picked up, and leave a $25 ticket for the first offense.
They also started putting a sticker with pictures of acceptable items on the top of the lid.
It's not rocket science when it comes to responsible recycling, it's very important that we do all we can to save our planet. 🌎

Recycling gets a big fat “meh” from me. It’s a half solution. We need composting, re-using, and to stop consumption. Recycling gives us a false sense of saving resources, it wastes our water and our energy. Of course recycling is better than simply dumping but in the grand scheme of things it is still wasteful.
You're so right. 👍👍
Spam great job and pics too! Diapers tho? 😮😂
I have no idea why they think diapers can be recycled...

With the stickers, it will be easier for us to follow what can be put into the bin and what shouldn't be in there.
