Day-773-Freewrite Monday Nautical Language 🛥️
Below is my five minute #freewrite on today's prompt: nautical language

Aft, stern, and anchor's away is the extent of my nautical language vocabulary. I've never owned a boat, but a buddy from high school bought one and we would go to the lake and tool around. It was fun once we launched it, but it was quite a production getting it in the water. First we hitched it up, stopped for gas, get to lake, wait to launch it, launch it, park the truck, walk back to the dock, get in the boat, go find a place to fish, open the beer, drink it, open another beer, drink it, put a worm on a hook, drink another beer, fish, pack up to head back to dock, drop Carl off, go get the truck, wait for his turn to use the boat ramp, back the truck up, drive the boat unto the trailer, drink the last beer, pull the boat out of the water, go park and tie everything down, head back to San Antonio. Back in the 1980's, you could park a boat in your driveway, nowadays you can't because of the Home Owners Associations. It has to be in the garage or you have to rent a storage space. Carl's dead now, but I once asked him if I should get a boat, he said, "I had two great days with my boat, the day I bought it and the day I sold it! The only way I would own a boat would be if I lived on the water, and it was always on the water, 50 feet from my house.

Well, sounds to me that you guys didn't drink enough beers Bruni hahaha.
That's why I love my old canoe, lift it onto the car, arrive , drop it onto my shoulder and in the water like a flash.
So this story is this, get yourself a canoe and there's even space inside for a dozen beers. Just don't drink all, as you might end up in hospital or at the local police station Lol

Love it: "I had two great days with my boat, the day I bought it and the day I sold it!" - and that awful bit about not getting to park in the driveway because neighbors don't want the "eyesore" of the boat. NIMBY - not in my back yard.

This is hilarious! I laughed through the whole thing.
My family has a lake house, dock and all, so we only have to go through this effort twice a year, putting the dock and boats in on memorial day and taking them all out on labor day.
But beer tastes better on a boat so there's that.
