Day-585-Freewrite Monday Nest
Below is my five minute #freewrite on today's prompt: nest

In 2017 a couple of barn swallows built a nest in the upper right corner of Debbie's front porch but the babies didn't make it, we found them on the ground, covered in ants. Last year they didn't come back 😭 but this year they came back and had four babies. I don't know how they all live in this nest, but yesterday they spent the day flying around the yard. At dusk, all four come back to the nest and so does one of the parents.
I took the second photo at 9:45pm as I was leaving Debbie's. This nest must have a basement, because I don't know all five of these birds fit in their home. It will be interesting to see if they return next year, or skip a year. This #freewrite will be continued...

I heard you can turn their nests into a Chinese soup. It's worth a lot of money.

Birds nest is the main ingredient in birds nest soup.

Once swallows made their nest in our balcony. But at that time we had a cat, so their idea quickly failed)))

They have basement and two floors probably. 😊
It has to be really deep as these 4 guys are getting big. They we're all up there again last night.

It is an amazing thing. My mother has a nest where a doves have made a home. The nest is tiny but the mom will sit with her baby on it. I fear they will fall out, but they never do. Thanks for sharing the nest and @mariannewest's freewrite.

I have nestlings in between my roof/awning
We have tried many times to cover that little hole that get the birds in and building a nest
We have had a few nestlings fall out, some survive the fall but not the cat
But now we just let them be
Besides according to superstition it is good luck
So let's hope they come back every year for you :D
We like to watch them. It's sooo much work at feeding time. 😁
