Below is my 5 minute #freewrite on today's prompt: new laws

If you've never created a #freewrite before, please visit today's post by @mariannewest

Today is January 3rd, 2019 and most of the new laws that were voted on in 2018 are now in effect.

We have a new Speaker of the House of Representatives, we have new higher hotel taxes for visitors to San Antonio, and if you get caught passing a school bus with it's flashing lights on, it will cost you an arm and a leg to pay for that ticket.

Laws are only good if there is someone enforcing them. Our police won't go after porch pirates, even if you have video of someone stealing your package. Our police don't ticket people talking or texting on their phones, even though a new law passed in 2016.

Maybe if a few tickets were passed out during the whole month for phone misuse, people might spend less time talking and more time driving.

Don't get me wrong I love and support our First Responders, but sometimes I get frustrated with people getting away with stupid shit.

Thank you so much for being a Freewrite supporter!!

It doesn't matter where you live, laws that aren't enforced become laws that will be broken, so what's the point? Like you say though, all it would take is a month of enforcement and everyone's safety would be the better for it.

I guess many countries have similar issues with the laws...

Thank you for freewriting with us! Here's the prompt:- Day 441: 5 Minute Freewrite: Friday - Prompt: list.

Thanks again! With love and hugs.
