Weekend Freewrite 4/21/2018: Single Prompt Option: dude
This is a true story. A couple of months ago on one of the coldest days of the winter, I took my car for an oil change. I was the third one to arrive in the waiting room. A young woman was talking to a girl who was also waiting for her car, and every other word that came out of her mouth was, "dude." She pointed to a new Honda Odyssey Van and said, "See that? It was a surprise gift from my husband and I was so mad. I told him, "Dude. You got me pregnant and you made me a mom. And now you take away my 10 year old, 5 speed Honda that I love, and you give me a mom car? Guess what? No more kids dude!"
She then looked at the manager behind the desk and said, "Dude. How much longer am I going to be? I have to go pick up my 5 year old daughter at the bus stop in 30 minutes." He assured her that her car would be ready in 5 minutes. Then a mechanic came into the waiting room and walked up to me, holding my air filter and told me that he wanted to show me something. Some of the filter was missing, making a cup-like indentation. He told me that something had been chewing my air filter and it was probably a mouse, trying to keep warm. The mom girl jumped up to look at it and said to me, "Dude. That is crazy. A mouse dude...in your air filter, dude!
Three hours had passed since I first walked into the shop, and then I heard my car in the shop bay, trying again and again to start, but it wouldn't turn over. Without thinking I said to the manager, "Dude! What did they do to my car? Why won't it start?" Here I am, an old-timer, calling a young man who is young enough to be my son, a dude!
That was the first time I was called a dude, the first time I called someone a dude, and the first time I had a mouse dude in my air filter.
By the way, my car wouldn't start because it was too cold. After they warmed it up, it was good to go. I told you it was one of the coldest days of the winter.

Another great initiative which I support. Thank you! : )
Lol, I almost wanted to say "Dude, what did they do, leave the ignition on?" Lol, darned them cold days. I hate when people call me a dude. I tell them I am a female, therefore I am a dudette. :-)
HaHa! I almost told the girl that I was a dudette! Hey, they always tell me to bring my car in before I drive anywhere because they don't want to be changing hot oil. : )
Lol, she probably would have dropped her jaw. I guess it was freezing cold if it didn't warm up on the drive there. Glad they got it running though. That is too cold for me. Brrrrr.
HaHa! I am glad they got it running too. Anything under 70 degrees is too cold for me. I hate winter!
I hear ya. The Washington winters suck too. Always wet and cold for months non-stop. We are still hitting 30's at night and lucky if we hit 60 in daytime.
Wet with the cold is the pits! We have the exact same temps as you right now and the heat is still on. The sun came out today and I was in shock. Stay warm : )
Yep, same here and you stay warm too.
I liked your story, because it is part of what happens to us every day in real life. Greetings dude @whatisnew
Thanks for the nice comment dude! And thanks for stopping by! : )
We will keep in touch @whatisnew. Greetings.
Sounds good to me! : )
dude!! Car trouble in cold weather! 😩
HaHa! Right on dude!
LOL
That was pretty funny dude! ❤
Very cool cute gif!!
Now I have been called a dude 2 times. LOL!
Isn't that a cute gif? It was a cute gift. : )
Dude....Omg It was a really good reading dude.
Thanks dude! Glad you liked it dude. Or should I call you "dudette?" : )
Good thing you weren't playing a drinking game with all of the "dudes" that were said. They'd have had to call a cab for you! The sun is shining here and it's been fairy warm the last couple of days. Here's to hoping the darned cold of winter stays away!
HaHa! I am happy to hear that you are having some pretty decent weather. It is a little bit warmer here but still cold...around 50 degrees during the day. Now I can't wait for summer to arrive.
Thanks for the prompt. : )
Nothing wrong with the Dude word.
HaHa!
