Day 36: 5 Minute Freewrite-Prompt: Junk (WP201)

My recent appointment with my doctor was concerning pain in my left thigh that has been going on for the past five months. I was sitting in a chair explaining the problem to him. He looked at me and asked if I had underwear on. "Yes, of course I do," I replied. He then told me to stand up and drop my pants (my slacks) so he could look at my thigh. After the so-called exam I asked, "Why did you ask me if I was wearing underwear? Are there many people who don't?"

This was my doctor's reply. "You would be surprised how many do not wear them. A perfect example is my girlfriend's son. I took him to the gym, we changed into our work-out clothes and he wasn't wearing underwear. When we left I told him to wear underwear next time because nobody in the gym wants to see the junk in your trunk.

I began laughing because this subject reminded me of something my sister-in-law told me. When she was a teenager and still living at home, her neighbor was saying bad things about her Mom. This neighbor wore the same shorts every single day until they disintegrated. Many years later, while spending Thanksgiving at her Mom's, my SIL had too much to drink, and walked over to the front of the neighbor's house and yelled, "Hey Suzie rotten-crotch! Stop saying bad things about my Mom!"
