Mourning Dove Pair
A pair of mourning doves preen each other as part of their bonding ritual. As their bond deepens, they grasp each other's beaks and nod their heads up and down at the same time. The doves are feeling the love.
After they mate, the male dove finds a place to build the nest. Instead of choosing a pine tree, he chose the eaves on top of the roof. He took his mate to the nesting site and she stayed, giving the signal that she approved his pick. The doves are feeling the love.
The male dove brings pine needles, twigs and grass to his mate and she builds the nest. The doves are feeling the love.
When the eggs are laid, the male dove helps his mate during the incubation period. The dove pair takes turns for 14 days. The babies are feeling the love.
Unfortunately, mourning doves are a favorite game bird. I know this pair and they know me. If hunters shoot them, they will without a doubt, wish that they never had after I am finished with them. The doves are feeling my love.
