Day 266: 5 Minute Freewrite: Thursday-Prompt: copy
Before he could share his vocal with the local,
His territory he had to claim, then he could rise to fame.
All through the night, his melodies were a delight.
He was heard, and on the night of the third,
His love couldn't wait, and she came through the gate.
He was there to protect, not neglect.
One dark night, with no moonlight,
They were almost mobbed, and robbed.
He mimicked a car alarm, which worked like a charm.
And flapped his bright splashes of white, making them work like one big search light.
The robbers ran with fright, on that fateful night.
He was a one bird act, and kept his family intact.
But his melodies and alarms, were certainly heard.

Love this. It was such a fun read.
Thanks for your kind words and for stopping by @michellpiata! : )
What a beautiful poem of a mockingbird. I always wonder why it is named after 'mocking' since it doesn't sound like mocking to me at all. Love this poem.

And thanks for the new prompt. : )
Quite a far fetched yarn but told in such a delightful rhyming way . :-)
Thanks so much for the nice compliment Mike! : )
The mockingbird is the official bird of the great State of Texas. 🇨🇱 and I have one just outside my front door. He whistles at me when I go to my car.
I didn't know that it was the official bird for your state. They are smart, fun birds and you are lucky to have one so close to you. His whistle must make you smile. : )
