Was it a Morning? First Freewrite In Collaboration With @spellmaker
Was it a Morning?
Today I had the unique pleasure of writing a Freewrite Collaboration for the Day 100 Celebration of the Freewriters community headed by @mariannewest.
Jeff and I were out and about all day yesterday so I missed the initial prompt. We traveled to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to go to the Strip District and do some food shopping. There was a lot of walking to do, but a lot of interesting things to look at, and all kinds of foods not available in Conneaut Lake, PA to purchase. I was so exhausted when I came home after being out in the damp wet, and my feet screamed at me. I was disappointed that I had missed the opportunity to do the collaboration for this wonderful landmark celebration.
Then, I received a message from @mariannewest assuring me that I was not too late, I had until Friday to complete a collaboration! I put a comment out on the post requesting a writing buddy and to my great pleasure and surprise @spellmaker responded. I am so happy to make his aquaintence today and even more pleased at how our collaborative effort took shape. I can honestly say I don't normally post anything sci-fi like, but his 5 minutes freewrite pushed my creative brain in this totally different direction, and how fun the whole experience became!
@spellmaker messaged me on Discord to let me know that he had things to do in the morning (he coaches football for kids) and I was out doing my part time job cleaning the nail salon in the small town I live in.
When I arrive back home, I had a meeting to attend and then touched base him with him. He was there and said he had completed his 5-minute freewrite and was actually present when I went to start my own. We used hackmed (which he taught me to use in a few minutes) Five minutes later I had shared my freewrite and you get to read the rest!
I chose the option three for our collaboration.
Option 3 - this option is especially good if you can't find a time which suits both writers
Each freewriter writes a 5 minute freewite.
Exchange the freewites.
Write 5 more minutes on the partners freewrite and finish the story.
Part 1 by @spellmaker
It was a saturday morning with a sun shining on my head. A bright and warm feeling noticing me that it’s already a daytime. I have slept in again. Too tired. Bones heavy to lift. Mind dizzy because of that buzzing sound.
I don’t feel like I’m in my skin anymore. After this new radio tower’s been set almost next to my house it feels like my mind is burning. The buzzing sound has never been so loud before. And even the music has changed. It’s like I’ve woken up in some kind of portable reality.
Part 2 by @wandrnrose7
I blinked my eyes and looked out the window. The sky outside was a strange purple with splashes of teal. I went to get out of bed, but my feet felt heavier. I pulled off the sheet and as I pulled my feet out from underneath it, they were dragging on the sheet. With alarm I reach down and threw the sheet off. What? These aren’t my feet!
There was strange webbing between my toes, it was almost a translucent orange and my feet were blue. I jumped out of bed now and my webbed feet landed with a slap on the bedroom floor. My feet were huge! Where did this radio tower come from?
I stumbled into the bathroom and raced to the mirror. The face looking back at me had some strange slippery looking substance. My eyes were wide and orange with little blue flecks. My mouth opened to make a silent scream.
And then the sound from the radio tower changed and I could hear a voice. All the sudden I could understand what it was saying. It was telling me to get up and get ready and line up outside. I had seconds to get down and report out front or I was going to be annihilated!

It's so interesting to read about your day knowing there's one point where we both of us were together. Focusing on one exact frequency.
Thanks once again for the great experience!
Yes! I actually was thinking the same thing especially as the timing was so perfect when we met without even setting an actual meeting!
You are welcome, and I gained a rich experience from our collaboration!
So cool!! It turned out great and i could really see the poor thing with webbed feet and a slimy face!!!
I have to say that your entering in the sci-fi realms was marvellous! That awakening reminded me of a surreal situation like the one in the metamorphosis of Kafka. I would be really eager to know how the story continues!
Thank you very much for your comment and encouragement. It means more to me than you would know. This venture other realms was rather new and fun! Sometimes you don't see yourself doing, too, but the freewrite takes you there.
I think this would be fun to continue. I wish I had more hours in the day for all the projects I would like to explore once I touch in them.
This is so true, Janelle. Time is the ultimate luxury.
