#freewriting - A delusional image or...
"It is a conspiracy, don't you see it?" She walked away from the table, clenching her fists.
Her parents looked at eachother and it was clear what they thought. She was starting to lose her mind.
""Enough of it", her father said, "I have had it with you. You will stay here, locked up in your room, as long as the doctors think it is necessary. Do not count on me to visit you anymore till you solved you ideas about this "conspiracy theory".
"Dad please, listen to me", she begged. She had no intention to give in. If it came to it she was the spitting image of her father, but he left the room and slammed the door behind him. What made his daughter think she would be killed by her own family?
"Mom, do you at least believe me".
Her mother had not said a word, had not asked one single question. It was as if she had no opinion of herself. She wondered how she could have the same bloodline at all.
"Pumpkins can grow everywhere, that is not what I want to discuss with you."
Her mother had whispered it into her ear as she passed by on her way out. "Prepare yourself..."
"What is it you want to discuss with me and when? Do not leave me here alone. Please do not lock me inside of here. You know I did not make it up. It is all true. I heard the voices through the wall. I heard them talking, they thought I was asleep. I was not, please mom listen to me!"
It was not fear that made her cry, but frustration. She was not sure of her life, neither of her parents. It was clear she had to deal with the doctors herself. She seemed to be a problem, a problem that needed to be solved. Her father would not visit her any longer. Did he already gave up on her? Did he knew? Was she a problem to him?
"Tonight, after dinner. I will find a way to visit you. Do not take the meds they give you", she said as she slipped out of the door and locked it behind her.
It was already dark outside, her mother still did not show up.
Dinner time must have been over a long time ago. The watch was broken so she couldn't tell what time it was. What was it her mother wanted to discuss with her? What did she mean by "pumpkins can grow everywhere"?
She vaguely remembered a garden full of pumpkins ... the people they once called grandpa and grandma ... her mother.
She was so young. They played together, lived their own fairy tale, the pumpkins were their carriages, their way out to a better life.
She smiled, wondered what did happen after that time. No matter how hard she tried she could not remember the rest of her life. Just the part she and her parents were living in this house, most of the time she felt sick.
She said: prepare yourself... what did she mean?
As she finally gave up on her mother she heard a key being turned around and there she was standing in the doorway.
"Be silent. It is time to leave. We did it before so we can do it again", she said, "I hope it will not be too late."
