A Travelling Path Part 4 / Pitiful

Don and Lucinda Getts were to leave on the Kight Road. It wound its way down and through the valleys and forests to the south, going through many towns and cities. There were rumors that it led as far as the Pine Fall, a mysterious wood of pine, and the mountain, Krystall Point. Some say that it once was a great road for the Kings of Old to travel safely from Northern Castles to the Ancient Kingdoms. But now it was a dangerous path for those who dared.

And so it was, they set on to their trek at high noon. Don and Lucy’s packs where filled pitifully with what could gather: a couple miniature pots; a pan; a few corn husks and mixed vegetables from Lucinda’s meager garden.

They were headed for the town of Silver Axe. Don hoped to find information upon who had sent the goblins to finish them. Whoever it was, thought Don, they will pay. Lucy just wished they’d live to tell the tale.

Don accidentally kicked up a cloud of dirt which brought him out of his stupor. He took a glance around them. About ten feet ahead the brushes parted a figure emerged with a javelin pointed right at his heart.
