Although the prompt wasn’t a name, that’s what my brain immediately came up with when I read “atlas” – the Titan Atlas.
Sky is the limit
When the war was lost, when he had fought his last battle, he came to rest.
Forced to his knees. Forever carrying the burden of sky, stars, planets on his back.
Holding it tight, never letting it go. He is resting, motionless, thoughtless, lifeless.
The muscles shaking, the heart burning, every breath a sigh of effort.
Nothing else but holding the sky, making sure it won’t touch the earth.
An important duty, a heavy burden.
An eternal curse.
I think that's the worst, the knowing that his burden is eternal and that there isn't hope for being free.
