Burning.

Burning down, the house is burning down, and Ray-ray was just watching from a safe distance. Fire trucks were on the way, but it would be too late to save the house by the time they arrived. She was lucky she was out in the workshop when the fire started. No, she realized, she was actually very unlucky to have been in the workshop when the fire started, because otherwise she could have stopped the fire. She knew exactly how it started. She'd left a candle burning in a very unsafe way, because she certainly wasn't going to leave it unattended, while she was doing some meditating. It was such a productive meditation session that she had been struck by inspiration and had literally run to the workshop to start painting before the idea disappeared. At least she had the bones of a painting that could fetch thousands, once anyone knew who she was and how talented she was. Maybe her house burning down would be the thing that would get her name in the news and attract some attention to her work. What was the saying? Any attention is good attention? Any news is good news? Neither of those sounded particularly catchy, so she thought she was probably getting the saying wrong, but that was excusable when one was watching one's house burn down. Thank goodness she lived alone and didn't have anyone.

You used my real life story to inspire you. ;)

It's true. You are a part of my personal zeitgeist.

I was able to appreciate the voice of your character. I could sense her and see her. Thanks for sharing her.

Visiting you from #freewriters community.

I have to say that while it's not what I would be thinking in the moment my house was burning (maybe I'd get there eventually), I can honestly see your character doing this. Someone so involved in their art and what kind of a future that could bring would think quite like this. Realizing fault for the candle, but then extracting a positive outcome to it—meditation and the starting of a painting to fetch thousands. Delusional? Maybe. Wrapped up in her own world? Definitely? But would she carry on? Absolutely. Sometimes being caught up in yourself and your creation is the best place to be. :)

That was a very good meditation session - minus the house burning down. But one never knows what new adventures await when one is free to go wherever...

Speaking of burning:

Hey @stinawog! #HotPotato!

@freewritehouse started tossing a hot potato in the Over20Club.
@felt.buzz threw it at me while I was watching a documentary about global warming, and @kaerpediem threw it at him, probably because one of his puppets was goofing around and left the door open.

You have to clean up the mess if you get caught with it when the clock stops. So... URGENT URGENT!

Go read another Over20Clubber's #freewrite and pass it on to that writer in the comments! Here's the link to the contest announcement (which includes a list of over20clubbers, but it hasn't been update in a while): https://steemit.com/freewrite/@freewritehouse/hot-potato-an-over-20-club-game
